Malvasia

The big entrance doors of this ex-barn open onto a large living room with a fireplace, sofa and comfortable furniture. Huge glazed panels front the lovely brick pattern barn windows. Metal supports and a metal staircase compliment the ancient brick and stone work. Wide steel stairs lead to the top floor, with a shower room, a twin bedroom, and a bedroom with an antique, double bed. Wide, travertine stairs lead down from the sitting room to a passageway with the kitchen on one side, and a door to wide, furnished patio, and on the other side a store room and shower room.

Accommodation

Guests have their own parking space and entrance, separate from the owners’ villa. While you enjoy your holiday, 100 meters away exquisite wines are slowly moving and maturing in oak casks in the ancient cellars below the villa, lovingly tended just as they have been for centuries past. A visit to the cellars is a wonderful way of cooling off, for the natural temperature there varies between 12 degrees in winter and 18 degrees in the high summer, all brought about by the construction of the ancient cellars themselves. Touring from Lornano is a constant delight along picturesque roads.

Our Customers say:

I have been holidaying in Tuscany for several years and without doubt the most memorable trip was our visit to Malvasia at Lornano last July. The villa is in an ideal location for exploring all of Tuscany’s treasures – you are minutes away from the main Siena to Florence motorway with San Gimignano and the fabulous Chianti towns of Radda and Gaiole also within easy reach. However if you want to completely chill out and relax the villa is situated in the idylic hamlet of Lornano which is set in some of the most stunning countryside Tuscany has to offer. The villa itself was beautifully decorated with everything and more you can expect from a Tuscan villa. It is also a working vinyard which produces fabulous Chianti wine, grappa and olive oil – no visit to Lornano can be complete without a tour to the wine cellars and a tasting. You can also expect the warmest of welcomes at Lornano as the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and do whatever they can to help you get the most from your holiday. Also give the restaurant in the town a go – you won’t be disappointed. There are too many reasons to explain why I will be going back to Lornano in the very near future but I can assure you I will be and my advice to you is to take up this Inviation to Tuscany – you won’t be disappointed

The house was great, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We were able to visit Siena in 10 mins and Florence in 45, or just hang around and play in the wonderful swimming pool. They dropped just one star on erratic hot water supply and less than perfectly comfy beds.

From Mrs. V.R. and family, guests August 2011

We stayed here is summer 2010. The property was very comfy, clean and a great location. The wine and olive oil from the vineyard on site was fantastic. The owners were very accommodating in showing us around the wine cellar. We loved the restaurant in the village. The pool was great to cool off in. The bus to Siena was also very handy. Overall a fantastic place.
